Education and Society: Federal University will be established in the Crimea

Federal University named after Vladymyr Vernandsky will be instituted in the Crimea. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev have signed the corresponding decree, according to the Russian Government official website.

The university will be founded on the basis of seven schools of higher education and the same number of scientific organizations. Ministry of Education and Science of Russia within six months must prepare a program of the university development and within three months formulate the amendments to the "Development of Education" state program.

By January 2016 Dmitry Livanov’s Office together with the Crimean Government and the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) should complete a preparation for foundation of the university. "The decisions will contribute into the socio-economic development of the Crimean Federal District due to the professional training and the researches based on the Federal University," - according to the document.

There are nine federal universities currently in Russia, located in Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Kazan, Arkhangelsk, Yakutsk, Stavropol, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don.
