Memory of Russia: “The Road to Sergius” exhibition to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Yaroslavl

"The Road to Sergius" exhibition goes on Until the 7th of October 2014 at Yaroslavl Historical, Architectural and Art National Park and Museum. The exposition is sited in the demonstration hall of “The Lay of Igor's Campaign” complex and is dedicated to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

"The Road to Sergius” exhibition organizers invite the museum’s guests to imaginative pilgrimage through the memorable places of Yaroslavl Territory associated with the secular life and the glorification of St. Sergius of Radonezh. A journey begins at the walls of former Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Yaroslavl and leads the observers to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Important milestones of pilgrimage path that the pilgrims were going through in the end of XIX century are represented in "The Road to Sergius” exhibition with documentary photographs of late XIX - early XX centuries and with the objects from the monasteries. Among the exhibits are the hagiographies, the icons of St. Sergius in distinct iconographies, and the belongings of the pilgrims of last century.

The exhibition also tells about the events of national culture, which are based on creative expertise of inhabitants of the Trinity-Sergius Lavraб such as a book production, woodcarving, enamel painting, well known as Rostov enamel.

Overall exhibition presents about a hundred pieces from the funds of Yaroslavl Historical, Architectural and Art National Park and Museum, as well as from the private collections.
