World history: Exhibition “In memory of the Great War” in Petrozavodsk

August 1, 2014 in the reading room of the National Archives of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk) opens the exhibition "In memory of the Great War" (the First World War by the documents of the National Archives of the Republic of Karelia), timed to the First World War Centenary.

The exhibition first features unique original documents of the First World War, covering various aspects of life in our region: general mobilization and subsequent appeals, participation of residents of the province in the war, assisting the front. A special emotional coloring belongs to different letters from the army, prisoner of war camps, written directly by the participants of the First World War.

The exhibition features a real George medal of the IV degree, which is preserved in the collection of the Office of the Governor of Olonets.

Among the exhibited documentary photographs - photo albums of the 7th train Battalion on the construction of the Murmansk railway (1916), photographs of the war and much more.
