Russian regions: The photo exhibition “Our Crimea” in Irkutsk
In the Museum Studio of the Irkutsk Regional Museum on September 11, 2014 opened a photo exhibition "Our Crimea". The exhibition includes photographs from the archives of ITAR-TASS. The exhibition is timed to the 110th anniversary of the news agency.
Irkutsk residents will see more than 40 unique photos of the life of the peninsula since the beginning of the XX century till nowadays. Many of the images are on display for the first time. The authors of many of the images above are well-known Russian and Soviet photojournalists.
There are photographs of Nicholas II, Anton Chekhov in Yalta, the May Day demonstration in Sevastopol.
The period of the Great Patriotic War presents photographs: "The battle for the liberation of Sevastopol", "The people of the liberated Bakhchisarai welcome partisans", as well as a historical snapshot of the heads of state, members of the Yalta Conference 1945. In the post-war photos are depicted children in a camp "Artek", sport camp "Karabakh". In the photographs of the 1960s visitors will see Yuri Gagarin and Alexander Pakhmutova. In pictures of 70s – the First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev on vacation in the Crimea (1971), as well as a rare photograph of workout of Soviet-Vietnamese crew of astronauts on the Black Sea (1979). The exposition is completed with phototogpahs of the 1980s - mid-2000s. They depict people resting on the Black Sea coast, athletes and others.
The exhibition will run until October 12.
