History and culture: The exhibition of icons from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Old Russian Culture and Art in Lipetsk

In the Lipetsk Regional Museum of Art is presented an exhibition of icons "Happy About You" from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art (Moscow).

The Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art - is the only museum in the country, which has a rich collection of outstanding examples of Russian artistic culture of the XI - beginning of the XVIII century. The museum's collection includes more than seven hundred years of the time period and has more than 18 thousand unique pieces of ancient Russian culture. Since 1991 the Andrei Rublev Museum is particularly valuable monument of cultural heritage of Russia.

The exhibition "Happy About You" is timed to the Year of Russian culture and is dedicated to the image of Our Lady of Russian icons of the XV - beginning of the XX century. The exhibition includes 50 works, among which there are the famous monuments (the icon of the Romanov "Our Lady of Fedorov") and those that will be exhibited for the first time.

A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to the earthly journey of the Virgin. It includes sites with images of holidays: Christmas Our Lady of the Presentation of the Temple, the Annunciation, the Assumption. Viewers can see the outstanding works of painters who worked in various cities and vast lands of the Russian state, to get acquainted with the features of the artistic language of the masters of Moscow, Tver, Novgorod, Rostov, the Volga, the Russian North, discover the unique world of Russian icons.

The exposition will run until October 8, 2014.
