Russian regions: Moscow celebrates City Day

The first Saturday of September (September 6) Moscow traditionally marks the City Day. More than 1000 events will take place at various venues: parks, cultural centers, theaters, museums, boulevards and streets in all districts of the capital.

First time on the Day of the City will be presented the projects proposed by the Muscovites. Among them - a city-wide day of excursions, eco-friendly lifestyle festival, a classical music concert in the open air festival of songs about Moscow Festival charities and others.

The opening ceremony of the City Day will be held on September 6 at 12:00 on Red Square. The ceremony welcomes 7500 Muscovites, among whom are honorary citizens of Moscow, veterans, representatives of public organizations, the winners of the various city-wide competitions, official delegations from sister cities, including Sebastopol. Viewers will present a colorful show, which tells about the iconic projects implemented over the past year.

On the City Day Muscovites and visitors can learn about the history of Moscow, visiting museums and tours. As part of a citywide day excursions will be organized over 170 free walking and biking tours of the historical sites of the city. Among them - the unique author of the program prepared by the tour desk of the Museum of Moscow, the capital ethnographers, architects and famous residents of the city.

On many sites will be conducted free film screenings. In the courtyard of the Museum of Moscow will be held the Documentary Film Festival "Center", a network of cinemas "Moscow Cinema" from 1 to 7 September will show "Film Festival of Moscow". September 6 "Cinema Association for children and young people" will present a series of entertainment programs.

The celebration of City Day will be completed on September 6 with a showing of the film by Georgy Danelia "I Step Through Moscow", which will start at 23:00 in open theaters of 9 Moscow park.
