Society and culture: The exposition “Works by Leo Tolstoy in graphics of Russian artists” from the collection of the Museum-Estate “Yasnaya Polyana” in Volgograd

September 3, 2014 in the I. I. Mashkov Volgograd Museum of Fine Arts is opened the exhibition “Works by L. N. Tolstoy in graphics of Russian artists” from the collection of the Museum-Estate “Yasnaya Polyana”. On the eve of 2015, the Year of Literature, residents of Volgograd and guests of the city have unique opportunity to see masterpieces of graphics from the collection of the largest museums of Russia. The exposition features 94 works by famous artists: O. G. Vereysky, A. V. Kokorin, A. F. Pahomov, N. A. Raschektaev, N. A. Tyrsa, V. A. Favorsky, D. A. Shmarinov.

The creative heritage of L. N. Tolstoy was very popular among the famous graphic artists, illustrations, which not only complement the work, but also provide food for thought. Each of the artists conveys the idea of works of L. N. Tolstoy in his own manner, recreates the timeless images of characters, reproduces historical era and reflects the drama of the works. Artists-illustrators addressed not only to the world-famous novel "Anna Karenina", "War and Peace", but also to the children's works.  

The exposition from the Yasnaya Polyana collection introduces not only to various possibilities of the art of graphics, but also reminds of immortal works of the writer and the great contribution, which was made to world culture by the largest national masters of the illustration.
