History of Russia: The exhibition “August 1944”, dedicated to the First World War Centenary, in Saratov
The Saratov Regional Museum opened an exhibition "August 1914" dedicated to the First World War Centenary. It features more than 360 exhibits, telling about how the Saratov Province looked like that time.
Military actions were far from the Volga region. Saratov has not remained aloof from the events of the war. The exhibition presents the materials about the started mobilization in the province, military units, lodged in Saratov (the 185th Bashkadyklarsk, the 186th Andalus, the 188th Kars regiments), and the replacement of the military units. These are photos, documents, awards, banners. There are also genuine banners of the Battalion of the 185th Regiment of the Bashkadyklarsk and 691 minutes walking Samara militia squads. Against the background of the image of the Saratov station, built on the parade ground, are exhibited items of arms of the Russian army.
The exhibition presents a collection of posters and postcards, held in the museum of local history, some photos of Volsky Regional Museum, the documents of the State Archive of the Saratov region, objects from private collections of T. A. Safronov, K. V. Slepyshev, A. V. Biryukov.
