
Society and Science: The Russian Geographical Society Festival in Moscow
From the 31st of October to the 6th of November 2014, in Moscow will go on the Festival of Russian Geographical Society. This large-scale event is organized for the first time in the history of the Company and held in the Central House of Artists in Moscow.
The main objective of the festival is to review all the aspects of the Russian Geographical Society’s accomplishments, which branches spreads on 85 regions of the Russian Federation. Each one works on preservation of natural and cultural heritage of the region, carries a variety of expeditions and researches and communicates an idea of care to nature.
By means of modern multimedia technology the guests of event will get a chance to visit the North Pole, to sink to the bottom of Lake Baikal, observe the life of the rarest cats in the world, to feel like an archaeologist exploring "Kyzyl - Kuragino" expedition’s mound, examine the remains of mammoths, compare the environmental portrayals of Russian cities and many other.
Each day of the festival will focus on a particular topic: the expeditions, researches, nature protection, science, regions, and the partners of the Russian Geographical Society. Among the guests of the special days will be the well known travelers, scientists, photographers, creative teams and TV presenters, who carry out various lectures and presentations.
Thus, the festival will become the largest in country thematic event, which will be interesting to visit for professional geographers and allied sciences, as well as a regular visitors, since owning to the festival whoever will be able at once to make a fascinating journey through entire Russia.
