Libraries and society: Scientific and applied conference on the history, theory and practice of librarianship in Orel

Orel Oblast Universal Scientific Public Library named after Ivan Bunin and Orel State Institute of Arts and Culture conducted on 30-31 of October 2014 "The Eleventh Denisev’s Reading": - a scientific and applied conference (with international participation) on the history, theory and practice of librarianship, bibliography and book science, bearing the name of a prominent library scinetist, Oryol born Vitaly Nikolaevich Denisiev.

"Denisev’s Reading" are carried beginning 2003. The objective of the conference is bringing the innovations into a library practice, education and research, the initiation of research work in libraries, professional development of librarians, preservation and enhancement of historical and cultural heritage of the region.

In agenda are the following issues:

- Scientific work of V. N. Denisiev and the current problems of librarianship, bibliography and book science;

- Library and information education and its place in the infrastructure of the information space;

- The problems of studying the history of the library and book culture in the regions;

- Research activities of libraries in the region;

- Scientific and research work in the universities of arts and culture;

- The resource base of regional historical, cultural and library researches.
