Society and culture: The V International conference “Actual problems of theory and history of art” in Saint-Petersburg

From October 28 to November 1, 2014 Saint-Petersburg hosts the V International conference “Actual problems of theory and practice of the history of state”. This is the annual scientific forum, organized within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Saint-Petersburg State University and the Moscow State University together with the State Hermitage Museum, and is dedicated to the discussion of actual problems of interaction of Russian and other national art cultures.

The leading topic of the conference 2014 is “Images of classical antiquity. Art of the Ancient World and its heritage in the world art culture”. In the plenary session and sections a special attention will be paid to the problems associated with the phenomenon of art and artistic culture of the ancient world, as well as the transformation of the classical heritage in the process of adding the European artistic values.

The conference is attended by more than 220 leading specialists in the field of art from 24 countries: scientists and teachers of 48 Russian and 60 foreign universities, museum and organizations. 

The events during five days will be held at different platforms of the Saint-Petersburg State University and the State Hermitage Museum.
