World history: The exhibition “Russia and Serbia. History of spiritual ties of the XIV – XIX centuries” in Belgrade

In Belgrade (Serbia) in the former country palace of Prince Milos Obrenovic opened the exhibition "Russia and Serbia. History of spiritual ties of the XIV-XIX centuries", organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Federal Archive Agency and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, with the participation of the State Archive of the Russian Federation, Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts, the State Historical Museum and the Historical Museum of Serbia.

Speaking at the opening of the Director of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts M. R. Rizhenkov noted ancient origins spiritual ties of our peoples, which is reflected in the manuscripts and early printed books, in correspondence with the Serbian monasteries Grand Prince of Moscow and the Russian tsars in the XVI-XVIII centuries, literacy and other archival documents. Spiritual connection to the XIX century is degenerated into political and intergovernmental relations, continuing to the present. The director of the Historical Museum of Serbia Oregano Boich looked forward to continued fruitful cooperation with Russian colleagues.

Ancient archival documents, rare photographs, icons and items of the decorative applied art from the collection of the largest Russian archives and museums illustrate the history of Russian-Serbian spiritual and state ties, rooted to the distant past.

The exhibition in Belgrade will run until November 30, 2014.
