Libraries and society: The Scientific-Practical Conference “Library collections in digital era: safety, scientific processing and accounting” in Irkutsk

October 15-17, 2014 in the I. I. Molchanov-Sibirsky Irkutsk Regional State Universal Scientific Library with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk region takes place the Interregional Interdepartmental Scientific-Practical Conference with International participation “Library collections in digital era: safety, scientific processing and accounting”.

Library collections at the conference are considered in a wider context – the place and the role of modern libraries in the information infrastructure of the society.

The main idea of the conference – the consideration of issues of integrated use of collections of libraries of different systems and agencies (sciences, culture and education) as well as museums and archives in order to implement the most effective models of interaction. 

The conference is organized in the form of plenary sessions, sections, round tables, special events for target audience:

At the conference will be discussed the following issues:

- Legal regulation of the formation of library collections, the quality of acquisition under the action number 44-FZ “On the contract system in the procurement of goods, works and services for state and municipal needs”; acquisition of funds under the federal law restricting access to information (№ 436-FZ “On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development», № 114-FZ “On Countering Extremist Activity”;  

- Acquisitions and use of traditional and electronic resources in libraries;

- The project of national standard “Acquisitions of documents. Terms and definitions;

 - The accounting of library collections in modern conditions: accounting, library, in accordance with the “Procedure for accounting documents that are part of the library collection”;

- Formation of the electronic library collections: remote resources and own generation resources (traditional translation of documents in electronic form, thematic electronic collections); safety and security of the electronic library collection;

- Book monuments: the identification, storage, restoration;

- Modern trends of the development of theory and practice of conservation of cultural heritage objects;

- The preservation of traditional and electronic documents including the process of using.
