Peoples of Russia: The exhibition “Pages of the history of the peoples of the North Caucasus” in Stavropol

October 14, 2014 in the G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave Stavropol State Historical and Cultural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve is opened the exhibition "The pages of history of the peoples of the North Caucasus (the middle of XIX - the first half of the XX centuries)" from the series of museum and exhibition projects dedicated to the role of the peoples of Russia in the history of the country. The exhibition is organized by the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, together with leading archives of the country and the State Museum of Oriental Art.

A historical period covers the exhibition from the beginning of the Caucasian War and the end of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the restitution of resettled peoples in 1957.

The exhibition presents exhibits on conducted new areas of attached socio-economic reforms aimed at integration of the North Caucasus in the Russian Empire. Features of the material culture of the peoples of the Northern Caucasus, reflect photographs about life of mountaineers, traditional clothes, women's jewelry, everyday objects from the unique collection of the Museum of Oriental Art.

We should also mention the collection of photographs that reflect the process of settlement of the Northern Caucasus, Russian, Ukrainian and other immigrants, talk about the conduct of joint cultural events in the region, education of children, running the household, despite the differences in language, customs, religion, as well as the conversion of North Caucasus into one of the world's spa centers.

In addition, visitors will be able to see a unique documentary film "Our Circassians in the war" of 1915 from the series "Russian military chronicle", devoted to the events of the Caucasian War.

The exhibition will be open for visitors from October 14 to November 12, 2014.
