Exhibitions: The exposition “The USSR Atomic Project: History in Documents” in Chelyabinsk

October 8, 2014 in the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Library opened a new exhibition - "The USSR Atomic Project: History in Documents". The exhibition is dedicated to three dates: the 60th anniversary of the nuclear power industry, the 65th anniversary of the creation of Russia's nuclear shield and the 80th anniversary of the Chelyabinsk region.

The exhibition presents unique copies of documents from the Truman Presidential Library (the USA), the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Federal Security Service, the personal collections of scholars, archives and museums.

Visitors will learn about classified material period of 1938-1949 years, including a biography of the famous unknown facts of Igor Kurchatov, will learn the role played by the atomic project in the fate of Alexander Solzhenitsyn. A special section is devoted to the individual St. Seraphim of Sarov.

"Earlier, the original exhibition was presented in Moscow and in the closed cities of the Chelyabinsk region. And now this exhibition has been made available for all of the Southern Urals people", - commented Natalia Diskaya, director of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.
