Internet and culture: The project “Virtual encyclopedia of artists of the Republic of Karelia” presented in Petrozavodsk

October 9, 2014 in the Russian Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk) is held a presentation of the project "Virtual Encyclopedia of Artists of the Republic of Karelia".

Museum specialists created a unique information resource that is listed at the website of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia. It contains a large database of 50 Karelian artists, starting with the first professional artists who worked in the early XX century, as well as the most prominent representatives of the artistic process in painting, drawing and sculpture, theater arts Karelia of the XX-XXI centuries. 

For the first time users will see documents from the scientific archives of the museum, archive of photographer M. Fedorov, rare materials from a family of artists and collections of documents stored in the Artists' Union of Karelia, Encyclopedia includes a large illustrative material about the work of each author, which shows not only the product stored in the funds museum, but in the artists' studios.

The project helps to solve the problem of acute shortage of information about artists of Karelia and creates modern conditions for free access of citizens to cultural values of the Republic of Karelia.
