Peoples of Russia: The exhibition project “The Circassians: knights, horsemen, soldiers…” in Maikop

October 3, 2014 at the National Museum of the Republic of Adygea (Maikop) opens a joint exhibition project of the National Museum of the Republic of Adygea and the National Museum of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria "The Circassians: knights, horsemen, soldiers…".

Through unique exhibits the exhibition features the evolution of the warrior outfit, the horse equipment, weapons and firearms, types of military vehicles at different archaeological times and items of ethnography from 8 B.C. until 19 A.D.

Several objectives are used while creating the exhibition project:

- Preservation of historical memory, the formation of an attitude of respect for the culture, traditions and religion of the peoples living on the territory of the Republic;

- The formation of patriotic feelings, the development of inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue, the preservation and development of a sense of pride for native Motherland, and the whole country.

The availability and presentation within the framework of the project of unique archaeological artifacts, revealing the nature and stages of formation of Circassia ethnos, its traditions, customs and culture, will promote the widest possible dissemination of ideas of tolerance and consolidation of civil society in the region.
