To the International Music Day: “Night of Music” to be held in Moscow

October 1 every year around the world marks the International Music Day which was established at the initiative of the International Music Council (IMC) to UNESCO in order to spread the musical arts at all levels of society and the realization of the ideals of peace and friendship between peoples, the development of crops exchange of experience and mutual respect for the aesthetic values. First theh Day of Music was celebrated October 1, 1975.  

In Russia, the International Music Day is celebrated since 1996, when the 90th anniversary of the birth of composer Dmitri Shostakovich - one of the initiators of the festival took place.

The International Music Day in Russia is devoted to various musical events - meetings with composers, performers, musicologists; exhibitions of musical instruments and works of art related to music.

Since 2013, in Moscow, the International Music Day is timed to "Night of Music", which in 2014 will take place on Saturday, October 4. The best performers will delight their fans with free concerts in concert halls, music schools, houses of culture, libraries.

Works of famous composers will be performed in 250 sites of the capital. The action will be attended by the House of Music, the Moscow Conservatory and the Moscow Philharmonic, concert halls in remote areas of the city.
