
Museums and society: 1st Museum Forum of the Far East “Museum – an open book for all” in Khabarovsk
October 1 to 5, 2014 the Khabarovsk Territory Government, the Ministry of Culture of Khabarovsk Territory, the N. I. Grodekov Khabarovsk Regional Museum are holding the 1st Museum Forum of the Far East "Museum - an open book for all."
Museum Forum of the Far East is part of the Year of Culture in Russia and is the first event of its kind in the region.
The halls of the Grodekov Museum and Museum of Military History in the form of a fair will feature exhibition projects of the leading museums of the Far Eastern Federal District. The forum will be attended by some 30 museums of the Khabarovsk Territory, Primorsky Territory, Sakhalin Region, Yakutia, Kamchatka Territory, Magadan Region, Chukotka Autonomous Area and the Amur Region.
Objectives of the forum:
- Increasing of creativity of the museums of Far East.
- Support and promotion of promising social and cultural projects.
- Introduction of innovation and information technology in museums.
- Promotion of partner cooperation and exchange of experience between the museums of the Far Eastern District.
- Professional development of museum staff of the Far Eastern District.
- Study of the public demand for museum services.
- Increase of availability of information about the museums of the territory.
The Forum provides a rare opportunity for dialogue and exchange of experiences. The event will include debates and seminars, public lectures with participation of recognized experts from different regions of Russia, consultations, roundtables, educational programs and community events, meetings, music concerts, presentations, press conferences, sightseeing and thematic tours.
The forum is intended not just for professional museum community, but also for the general public. From 1 to 5 of October everyone will have a unique opportunity to not only see museum exhibition-participants, but also to learn about their cultural and educational projects.
