History and culture: The collection of V. N. Argutinsky-Dolgorukov in the collection of SHM in St. Petersburg

The State Historical Museum of Saint-Petersburg from November 25, 2014 to March 15, 2014 will host the exhibition dedicated to V. N. Argutinsky-Dolgorukov. Mane items from the collection of V. N. Argutinsky-Dolgorukov are often exhibited, but the collection was never demonstrated fully. The exhibition in the Peter and Paul fortress first presents all the collection.

2014 marks 140 years of the birth of Vladimir Nikolayevich Argutinsky-Dolgorukov (1871-1941) – a prominent Petersburg collector and are connoisseur. During ten years he was a deputy chairman of the Museum of Old Petersburg – the predecessor of the State Historical Museum of Saint-Petersburg. From 1909 to 1920 the museum was granted about 600 items: drawings of leading Petersburg architects of the XVIII – early XIX century, paintings, watercolors and drawings with views of the capital, more tha n200 engravings and lithographs, plans of Petersburg of different time. In fact, these exhibits were the core of the museum collection in the first decade of its existence.
