The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

21 November 2014

The Presidential Library collection National periodicals has been enriched with new identity – the magazine of the Department of Russian language and literature of the Academy of Sciences, provided by the State Public Historical Library.

“Collection” was release by separate issues (numbered and unnumbered), in uncertain terms, from 1867 until 1928 in Saint-Petersburg (Petrograd, Leningrad).

The journal title changed at different times: in 1867-1870 the edition was released under the title “Collection of articles, delivered at the Department of Russian language and literature of the Imperial Academy of Sciences”, in 1871-1916 – “Collection of the Department of Russian language and literature of the Imperial Academy of Sciences”, in 1917-1922 – “Collection of the Department of Russian language and literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences”, 1927-1928 – “Collection of the Department of Russian language and literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR”.

There were released 132 volumes of the magazine. Most of the collection contains the official part (reports and excerpts from the meetings, sometimes with applications) and several numbered "parts", sometimes the whole collection is a monograph. The collection published as new works, often simultaneously issued separately and published before (sometimes in part) in other publications of the Academy.

Today, the Presidential Library website presents a retrospective of the magazine for 1869-1926 (issue 62).

The preparation of new periodical collection will be continued.
