Exhibitions: The exhibition “The First World War: a view in centenary” opened at the Russia Cultural Center in Tel-Aviv

As part of the complex event of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Israel, dedicated to the centenary of the First World War, in November the Russian Cultural Center in Tel-Aviv hosts a historical and documentary photo exhibition “The First World War: a view in centenary”. The exposition features rare archival photographs, telling of tragic events of a century ago and the military glory of the Russian Army on the battle fields.

A special interest among Israelis is s section of unique exhibits of the First World War from the collection of the Military-Historical Museum “Energy of Courage”, created by the military historian and organizer of museology David Zelvensky (Hadera).

The Russian Army contained more than 600 thousand Jews, 100 thousand were killed, more than 4, 5 thousand are awarded the George Cross and medals for military valor. In Israel there are dozens of descendants of Jews – participants of the First World War.

Among unique exhibits are personal weapons, military awards, military life objects, uniforms, musical instruments of military musicians. The exhibition also displays documents, letters, military maps, posters, drawings, photographs and portraits of Jews - the heroes of the First World War.
