Unique architectural models and photographs of the contest materials for seven grand buildings of Moscow of 1930-1950s can be seen at the "Forge of Great Architecture" which opened at the Metropolitan Museum of Architecture.

The exhibition features history of creation of large-scale projects, such as the hotel “Moscow”, in Hunter’s Row, the editorial office “Izvestia” on Pushkin square, the Central telegraph on Tverskaya, the Lenin Library, the Tchaikovsky Concert hall, the Frunze Military Academy and the building of the Academy of Sciences.

The exhibition also features the history of the creation of buildings of city districts, selected for their construction.

The results of the competition happened differently, and not all carried out as planned. "For example, the legendary competition for the construction of the building of the newspaper "Leningrad Truth", which entered into all architectural encyclopedias, completed the building of the newspaper "Izvestia". Whatever happens in the process of implementation, it is important that all these buildings became a landmark for Moscow", - said the museum's director, Irina Korobina.

According to her, the project the "Forge of Great Architecture" after Moscow is planned to be shown in the world's largest museums.
