Museums: “Tolstoy readings” 2014 held in memory of L. N. Tolstoy

From November 19-20, 2014 in memory of L. N. Tolstoy “Tolstoy readings” are held in Moscow.

The leading theme of reading – “Late Tolstoy. Creativity. Activities. Environment”. Choosing a theme is not accidental: 2014 marks the 125th anniversary of the beginning of the L. N. Tolstoy over his novel “Resurrection” (1889), the 130th anniversary of the founding by the L. N. Tolstoy and V. G. Chertkov of people's publishing house “Mediator” (1884), the 150th anniversary of the birth of I. I. Gorbunov - Posadov (1864).

The main directions of Readings:

- Leo Tolstoy's novel “Resurrection”: history, poetics, the problems, the perception of the readers in Russia and abroad;

- Art and journalistic work of Leo Tolstoy (1880-1910);

- Publishing house “Mediator” (1880s-1930): history of creation, activities, circle of authors and publications, etc.;

- Ivan Ivanovich Gorbunov-Posadov (1864-1940) - the head of the publishing house "Mediator" and activist of Tolstoy movement.

The meetings are held at the L. N. Tolstoy State Museum.

It is planned to publish a collection of materials “Tolstoy readings” 2014.
