Society and book culture: The Center of Orthodox books opened at the National Library of the Chuvash Republic

November 12, 2014 at the National Library of the Chuvash Republic opens the Center of Orthodox books "Radonezh". It is created in the framework of the "Year with St. Sergius of Radonezh, or 365 meetings with Orthodoxy", which received the support of the International grant competition "Orthodox Initiative".

The objective of the Centre "Radonezh" is the organization of exhibitions, educational activities, together with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and the educational institutions. Through books and reading will be formed systematic picture of the priceless heritage and spiritual traditions of Russian culture, users will be able to explore the past of the Fatherland, the spiritual values of Orthodoxy.

The book collection of the center "Radonezh" includes publications of the Orthodox subjects of the National Library of Chuvashia, books and CDs from the collections of Archpriest Sergius Pushkov, Priest Maxim Kurlenko, Abbot Boniface (Semenov). Some books convey to the reader of Chuvash libraries within the "The gift of a Heart". The grant money helped to acquire new editions. In the center is presented of a rich selection of literature on the spiritual and moral education, issues of ideological nature, edition for believers and for those who are just looking for a way to God, lives of the saints, as well as fiction and children's literature. The General Fund has about 1 thousand storage units: books, audio and video materials and periodicals.
