Information technology and culture: The scientific-practical seminar “Challenges of the digital information preservation in libraries, museums and archives” in Moscow

November 10-11, 2014 in the State Museum of Leo Tolstoy (Moscow) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation is held the Scientific-practical seminar "Challenges of digital information preservation in libraries, museums and archives".

The seminar program includes the identification and discussion of problems and solutions in the field of data collection and long-term preservation of cultural heritage in museums, libraries and archives:

- Awareness of heads of authorities and cultural institutions, professionals of museums, libraries, archives and the general public about the challenges associated with long-term preservation of digital information, including digital cultural heritage and various aspects of the problem;

- The formation of a long-term strategy and policy of preserving digital information in libraries, museums and archives and legislation in this area;

- The roles, functions, powers and responsibilities of traditional libraries, museums and archives, as well as new institutions and structures that are involved / to be involved in activities for long-term preservation of digital information;

- Practical aspects and examples of addressing the long-term preservation of digital cultural heritage.

The seminar welcomes leaders and specialists of governments, libraries, museums, archives and other organizations in the field of culture, science, education, information technology and communications, printing and mass communications.
