Archives of Russia: The historical and documentary exhibition “85 years of the collection of the State Archive of Cinema and Photo Documents of Saint-Petersburg”

November 6, 2014 in the Exhibition hall of the Archival Committee of Saint-Petersburg opened a historical-documentary exhibition “85 years of the collection TsGAKFFD Saint-Petersburg”.  

The documents allow tracing the history of the collection of the Central State Archive of Cinema and Photo Documents of Saint-Petersburg from 1929 until 1941 and fates of its workers. Among the documents - the work of famous photographers: K. K. Bulla and his sons, Y. V. Steinberg, S. A. Magaziner, I. A. and A. A. Otsupov, P. S. Zhukov, K. A. Shapiro and photographers of the Leningrad branch “Soyuzfoto”; records of archive, reports, statements and reports of workers, plans and diagrams of buildings in which the archive was housed.

The exhibition features more than 100 documents from the State Archives, the subordinated Archival Committee of St. Petersburg, the Federal Archives, the National Library of Russia, the Office of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region and the family archive of L. N. Jakubovsky, granddaughter of the first custodian negatives of LOAB D. M. Kuzmin.

The exhibition is complemented with materials: cameras, laboratory equipment, and packaging material of late XIX - early XX centuries - objects from the collections of the Museum of the History of Photography and the personal collections of workers of TsGAKFFD Saint-Petersburg.
