History and culture: The VIII International Cinema Festival ‘Russian Abroad” dedicated to the First World War Centenary opens in Moscow

November 7, 2014 at the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad in Moscow opens the VIII International Film Festival "Russian abroad".

The festival "Russian abroad" is the first and the only Russian film festival, which focuses on topic of the Russian world.

The special theme of this year – is the First World War Centenary, and some film works are devoted to the dramatic events of the time, opening unique pages of history.

The program of the festival includes 27 films from 10 countries. The program consist of game and documentary novels about the White emigration, about the amazing destinies, the Russian character, outstanding people, about the vicissitudes of the past and present years.

During the existence of the Film Forum in its competitive program has been shown more than 130 feature and documentary films of domestic and foreign filmmakers from fifteen countries of the world.

The VIII International Film Festival "Russian abroad" is held by the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad, the film studio "Russian way" with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Government, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
