History and culture: The exhibition “World of Childhood of the XVIII – XXI centuries” in Moscow

19 December 2014

December 19, 2014 at the School of Watercolors Andriaka (Moscow) is held the grand opening of the exhibition "World of Childhood of the XVIII - XXI centuries". The exhibition presents more than a hundred exhibits from Moscow museums and private collections, as well as works by artists-teachers of the School of Watercolor. Viewers will see rare exhibits of the Russian National Museum, the Museum of V. A. Tropinin and Moscow Artists of his time, as well as rarities from the collections of Sergei and Tatiana Podstanitskih, A. G. Egorov and artist-teacher of the Schools of Watercolor E. M. Lukyanova. For many visitors the exhibition will be a real discovery of the exhibits of the Sergiev Posadsky Art and Pedagogical Museum of a Toy.

The theme of childhood in art is unfading. Children's portraits always aroused emotionally heightened perception, as related to the memories of childhood. Images of children attract famous masters of portraiture: Borovykovsky V. L., Sokolov P. F., Gau V. I., Briullov A. P., and little-known artists. The exhibition includes all varieties of the portrait genre: from small-format watercolors to the multi-figure compositions with landscapes and still lifes.

The exposition of painting expands genuine antique toys and immerses the viewer in a cozy atmosphere of "child": dolls, guns, swords and even a working model of the imperial train.

Candy packaging, labels, posters and other paraphernalia of well-known Russian manufacturers of confectionery of late XIX beginning of XX century - filled the exhibition with the scent of the holiday.
