Russian language: The Russian language Council of the Government of the Russian Federation

December 15, 2014 took place the IV open meeting of the Russian language Council of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Language Council of the Government of the Russian Federation was created by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 5, 2013 № 992 “On the Russian language Council of the Government of the Russian Federation”. The council is an advisory body, which objectives are the review of key issues in the field of state support and development of the Russian language and the making suggestions on improving state policy in this field.

The event was chaired by the Deputy Minister of the Government of the Russia Federation Olga Golodets.

In his speech the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Konstantin Kosachev said about the activity of the Federal Agency in the field of Russian language support in the world and the education in Russian. “This year the focus was on conducting of a large-scale and socially significant share of the Russian Federation abroad, focused on the promotion of the Russian language in the world, as well as the development of multilateral formats of cooperation in this area, taking into account today's realities”, - he said.

Currently Rossotrudnichestvo is the only Russian state institution which provides a systemic learning of Russian language abroad at the courses of the RCSC. “Special attention is paid to social and professional orientation courses, orientation of teaching to different target audiences”, - said Konstantin Kosachev.

The head of the Agency also drew his attention to the support of Russian institutions in the development of international cooperation with foreign partners, Russian schools abroad.

At the meeting were presented the results of the guidelines for the promotion of the Russian language in 2014. Participants discussed the work plan of the Council on Russian language of the Government of the Russian Federation for 2015.

As part of the event was running an interactive exposition of the Program to promote the Russian language and education in Russian.
