13 December 2014

In the year of the 300th anniversary of the Church of the Transfiguration on the island Kizhi the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk) put on public display the layout of the Kizhi historical and architectural ensemble.

Authors of the layout - Victor Petrovich Moiseev (1933-1976) and Igor Ilyich Mednikov. During a few years, from 1958 to 1963, they created a masterpiece. Mednikov made a layout of the Intercession Church and Mosaic – the Church of the Transfiguration, the bell tower and fence.

Before the layout of the Kizhi ensemble was finally ready, the work has already received public recognition: as part of the exhibition of the "Soviet section" was exhibited in 1967 in Montreal (Canada), and later was repeatedly presented to the city exhibitions.

In 1969, the layout of the Kizhi ensemble was purchased by the National Museum of Karelia.

In addition to the layout of the Kizhi ensemble in the museum are stored the layouts of the Assumption Church in Kondopoga and home peasant of Yakovlev, which are also made by Viktor Moiseev.
