Information Technology and Museums: The State Historical Museum builds its database

Already for several years the State Historical Museum (Moscow) conducts a work on creation of security fund of the museum's accounting records and filling a database. This allows to eliminate the circulating of the originals and to improve the efficiency of the search, accounting and analysis work of museum objects.

The ELAR Corporation is the one who did a job of digitization of the inventory books for the State Historical Museum. Database records on agreed list of fields were created basing on the graphic information from the scanned documents. The electronic resource will be loaded into the information system of the museum and handed over to the State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation, which is a product of the Main Data-processing Center of the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation with an objective of providing an open access to the information on any entry at the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
