Libraries and society: The International conference “The National Library of Russia and its reader: problems of transformation” in Saint-Petersburg

The International scientific-practical conference "The National Library of Russia and its readers: the problems of transformation" runs December 9-10, 2014 at the National Library of Russia during the III St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The National Library of Russia has traditionally biennially holds a large-scale conference on the problems of reading and reading activity.

Heads and specialists of national libraries of Russia, CIS and foreign countries, sociology, cultural studies, library science are invited to participate.

The purpose of the conference is to discuss topical problems of transformation of library and information and reading activity, imagine a contemporary portrait of the reader of the National Library of Russia.

Topics for discussion:

- Real and virtual reader;

- Theory and methodology of the study of the reader of the National Library;

- Monitoring the quality of library services: the National Library through the reader's eyes;

- The website of the National Library: the attractiveness and effectiveness;
