Information technology and culture: The “Gogol-Center” in Moscow hosts “Theatre media library”

December 8, 2014 the Moscow “Gogol-Center” hosts the “Theatre media library”, which can be used by everyone. 

“Theater media library” – is the first in Russia attempt to make a video collection of theater events. The electronic catalogue of all the units of its storage will be located in the public domain, but the view of video will be possible only on the territory of the theatre in specially equipped area with workstations. 

Today the collection of media library includes several hundreds of performances of foreign and Russian directors and choreographers both contemporary and classics of the world theater. A part of them is presented in the original language, and a part – in translation, with Russian and English subtitles.

The basis of video collection of the media library is private collections of famous theater critics and directors, as well as video from private and state organizations (the Bakhrushin Museum, the State Film Fund, Gosteleradiofond, the Krasnogorsk archive). Library collections will be regularly updated, the updates will be following as the website “Gogol-Center”. Public lectures and video screenings on the basis of the funds will be held once a month.
