
Information technology and archives: The State Archive of the Kostroma region to digitize documents of the early XX century
The State Archive of the Kostroma region currently transits into the electronic form documents of the early XX century.
With newly acquired scanner ELAR PlanScan series "C3" in the institution will be created electronic copies of the most valuable and the most difficult documents for the digitization.
The main part of the archive collections is represented with funds of institutions, organizations and enterprises in the two centuries - from the end of the XVIII to the end of the XX century. The document reflects many events of nationwide and local history: a general survey, the Patriotic War of 1812, the peasant reform of 1861, rural and Stolypin reforms, the revolutionary events of 1905 and 1917, the collectivization, the rapid development of the industry of the 1930s, the Great Patriotic war, education of the Kostroma region and so on. The largest and the most information-packed funds of the pre-revolutionary period are funds of the Office of the Kostroma governor, provincial government, local Exchequer and the district council.
The transition into the electronic form of files and documents will contribute to the preservation of this unique information, the provision to it of an easy access and reduce of time of archival search.
