Internet and Culture: Russian language section of Polish culture web portal is launched

Russian language version of the Culture.pl web portal, devoted to the world of Polish culture, is launched.

"This is the largest and most versatile source of information about Polish culture, - as it is stated at Culture.pl website. - In addition to news about the events in Poland and abroad, the biographies of cultural figures, the reviews, the essays, the articles and information about cultural institutions could be found here."

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Polish national institute of culture, lounched Culture.pl in 2001. Until recently, the website’s materials were only issuing in Polish and English.

Such the categories as "Cinema", "Literature", "Theatre", "Music" and "Art" are available at Culture.pl in Russian, there is also a subsection with the programs of the Institute of Adam Mickiewicz and the "People" subsection with biographical information on the Polish culture workers.

"In compare to the Polish and English editions, the Russian site, though focused mainly on Polish culture, is going to highlight the major events in cultural life of Poland's eastern neighbors - including seen through the eyes of those who live in Poland, - says chief editor of the Russian edition of Culture.pl Anna Mirkes-Radzivon. - We will talk about the life of art, but also about the art of life, the culture as a phenomenon of social life and social life as a cultural phenomenon. We would like to offer our readers the latest Polish literature, by publishing from time to time the fragments of fresh Polish poetry and prose."
