World history: The exhibition of historical photograph “The First World War. Riders of special purpose” in Saint-Petersburg

From January 27 to February 20, 2015 in the Exhibition Hall "Smolny" (St. Petersburg) is held an exhibition of historical photographs from the collection of O. A. Khoroshilova "The First World War. Riders of special purpose".

The exhibition is devoted to the most interesting and almost unknown to the general public of the phenomenon of the First World War - Russian cavalry detachment of special importance.

The order of their formation was published on October 30, 1915 by the Staff of ataman Grand Duke Boris Vladimirovich. Partisans should penetrate into the enemy's rear, to carry out raids to capture the headquarters, blow warehouses, railroads, work with the local population.

The largest and most legendary guerrilla forces of the First World War was a detachment of special importance lieutenant Leonid Punin who has repeatedly shown his mettle and prowess in battle with the Germans on the northern front.

The exhibition was prepared on the basis of the collection and a monograph of candidate of Arts Olga Alexandrovna Khoroshilova - granddaughter of one of the participants of riders - Leo Punin.

The first version of the exhibition was presented to the visitors in the department "Narva Triumphal Arch" of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture.
