Museums of Russia: The new exposition of military equipment and weapons of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow

The Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War (Moscow) continues to expand the exposition with military equipment and weapons in the open air.

February 15, 2015, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, the official opening is planned new venue, which will showcase the legendary models of equipment and weapons of the Soviet Army, applied in local wars and armed conflicts outside the USSR, including divisions of Soviet forces in Afghanistan in 1979-1989.

The central object of the new site will be famous "worker of a sky" - military transport aircraft An-12. Inside the fuselage of the aircraft will be deployed special exhibition dedicated to Soviet soldiers who participated in the armed conflict in Afghanistan.

The transportation and installation at the site of the museum aircraft itself will become a unique event. Discovery of such a large museum object is the beginning of the formation of a new large museum under the open sky.

Today the territory of the Poklonnaya hill, on which the museum is located, includes a whole range of military glory memorial sites dedicated to the memory of soldiers and officers, with honor to perform military duty, becoming worthy successors of military traditions and victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The opening of a new exhibition area of military equipment and weapons, including exposure on board the aircraft AN-12, along with a monument to soldiers-internationalists, erected in 2004, will create a single set of memorial sites dedicated to the events of the war in Afghanistan in 1979-1989.
