
International organizations: Exhibitions to the 70th anniversary of the Organizations of the United Nations at the Russian State Library
The Center of Documents of International Organizations of the Russian State Library (Moscow) hosts the exhibition "Turning the pages of the history of the UN".
October 24, 2015 the world community will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. To the anniversary at the Center of Documents of International Organizations of the Department of official and legal publications of the RSL is opening a project under the title "Turning the pages of the history of the UN". The project consists of eight exhibitions and several events. A series of thematic exhibitions will run until the end of the year. Readers will get familiar with the official documents of the UN, since the establishment of the preparatory period during the Second World War, its formation in the postwar period to the present time.

Members and guests of the library will have a unique opportunity to learn more about one of the leading international organizations, information which is important for everyone. These included documents that were stored in a special repository library.
Eight thematic exhibitions organized by decades, are designed to reflect the most important results of the UN since its creation to the present. The first exhibition, covering the period from 1941 to 1950, includes such rare documents, such as: "The Atlantic Charter 14/08/1941", "Declaration by United Nations 02/01/1942", "UN Charter", the first edition of the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10 December 1948)" in Russian (1949) and a photo of Eleanor Roosevelt, who was behind the creation of this document.
The exhibition provides a unique picture of procedure of signing of the UN Charter representatives of the USSR Andrei Gromyko on June 26, 1945 in San Francisco.
The Russian State Library receives documents and publications of the United Nations since 1946. From August 2, 1965 the main library of the country is endowed with the status of the UN Depository Library. For half a century the RSL is part of the "family" of UN depository libraries. The universality of the United Nations Fund is unique. Documents and publications of governing bodies of the organization, as well as other specialized organizations and UN agencies, entering the RSL in the traditional form and in electronic form, reflect the life of the world's population and contain the experience of the best representatives of different nations. Currently, the UN Depository fund has about 500 thousand units.
In October 2015 will be held the traditional round table "The United Nations Day - 2015 at the RSL".
