The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: Masterpieces of the Soviet book illustration presented at the exhibition in the Russian State Library of Arts
The Russian State Library of Arts (RGBI, Moscow) invites on February 26, 2015 to visit a new exhibition of the Museum of the reader "Literature. Artist. Library".
The exhibition is timed to the Year of the Literature and is devoted to the masters of book art, illustrators.
A particular attention is paid to work of masters of national book graphics, who came to the library, knowing that here they will find the necessary material.
Creating their works, illustrators browse book editions, engravings, lithographs, photographs, postcards and other documents that inspire and provide food for creativity. Wealth of funds of the RGBI allows reconstructing the image of time, be fed with knowledge of the era, and give free rein to artistic imagination.
The exhibition recreates the creative process of searching. Thanks to library documents - application of the reader, you can restore the product over which work, when, and how the artist worked, and how other specialists of the RGBI helped him.
The exhibition presents unique preparatory materials prior to the creation of the book: author's sketches, applications, and even index cards that copy for themselves artists. The center of attention, of course, is books.
A new exhibition of the Museum of the reader provides an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the work of artists working in a variety of styles, techniques and manners, belonging to different generations, but are united by professional and creative approach to the book of courage and wealth of imagination, deep knowledge of the great traditions of Russian book illustration.
