History of Russia: The multi-volume “Siberian Historical Library” is planned to be published
The multi-volume “Siberian Historical Library” is planned to be published by Siberian scientists. The encyclopedia will consist of 50-70 volumes.
It is expected that the first volume will be released next year. The project will be implemented under the auspices of the Russian Historical Society (RHS). As explained by the co-chairman of RHS, director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences Anatoly Derevyanko, it will be an encyclopedia on the history of the region since Yermak to the present.
“We have accumulated a huge, completely original material, which allows many problems to cover differently and fundamentally. I think that we can publish 8-10 volumes a year. It will last 10 years”, - said the scientist.
Anatoly Derevyanko said that the most part of the ten thousand editions will receive free all schools, universities and regional libraries. Free sale is no more than 15% of circulation.
The encyclopedia will be made of reprints of literature of the XVII-XIX centuries, historical, historiographical, memoir and journalistic works, telling of the research of Siberia since the VIII century. The preliminary list of scientific and journalist works includes more than 280 sources.
Head of the Federal Archival Agency Andrei Artizov promised archival agencies will soon collect the relevant documents.
