Information technology and society: The measures of state support of national free program software developed

At the opening of the conference of developers and users of the open source database PostgreSQL on February 6, 2015 the Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov told about the measures of state support of the open program software, developed by the agency.

The matter concerns the creation of centers of excellence in the field of open source software, support domestic infrastructure development and ecosystem distribution of products based on open source software, the active participation of Russian developers in the international projects the ACT and significance of the Russian contribution to the development of the global IT industry, said the head of the Ministry of Communications of Russia.

The Minister expressed confidence that the current geopolitical environment is necessary to develop and maintain any kind of free software that can lead to monopolization of the market of software development, which is especially important for such important areas as database. According to the head of the Ministry of Communications of Russia, it is necessary to achieve a balance in which the share of each software developer in the international market will not exceed 50%.
