
History and culture: The exhibition “Jeweler’s Art of the XVII – XIX centuries in the Novgorod Museum collection
February 6, 2015 in the Vladychnaya (Faceted) Chamber of the Novgorod Kremlin took place the opening the new exposition “Jewelers’ Art the XVII-XIX centuries in the Novgorod Museum collection”. The exposition includes more than 150 works of silver and golden items of the XVII-XIX centuries.
The first hall is dedicated to models of secular art, found application among church utensils. Russian and Western European precious tableware, lighting, household items of the end XVII - XVIII centuries, received from Novgorod churches, in this volume are exhibited for the first time.
The second hall of the exposition is dedicated to new trends in the development of solver case at the end of XVII-XVIII centuries. The main techniques are carving and embossing. the fashion includes products with bright gems and pearls. Chasing of the products is of high quality with amazing clarity and precision, giving ornament ease and grace.
The third hall of the exhibition features a circle of monuments of jewelry belonging to the workshops, shops, businesses Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novgorod period of the XIX century. Jewelry art of this period is characterized by the influence of the classical style, new technologies in the first half of the century, decorative style and a special stylishness to the end of the century.
