Information Technology and History: Multimedia Museum Project, launched to the 72th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, presented in Volgograd

3 February 2015

"War Chronicle in Letters and Diaries" interactive exhibition opened on February 2, 2015, at the "Battle of Stalingrad" Museum-Panorama. Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Military-historical society Vladimir Medinsky attended the ceremony. He has familiarized himself with new multimedia aptitudes of the museum and communicated informally with the veterans of the Second World War and the members of military-patriotic clubs.

Within a framework of the project the new multimedia objects have appeared - the interactive displays and installations, created during the technical and creative renovation of the museum that was timed to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 72th anniversary of the Stalingrad’s victory.

Retooling of these areas has not been going for more than 30 years. Now with the help of multimedia kiosks besides the windows every visitor could also get acquainted with "a flavor" of the museum fund, which includes 170 thousand objects and documents. An object for special pride of the museum staff is an updated prototype of the city that has been “enliven” with the help of new technologies. An installation made in the "body" of the shell of large-caliber gun and an observation post, in where the visitor through the embrasures on stereoscopic screens can see a battle in the three-dimensional representation, could also be called the unique.
