History and culture: Unique collection of reproduction engravings of the XVII-XIX centuries presented in the Museum-Reserve “Spasskoye-Lutovinovo”

March 25, 2015 in the exhibition hall of the I. S. Turgenev State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve "Spasskoye-Lutovinovo" (Orel region) is opened the exhibition "And captivating gods of the ancient world".

The Museum-Reserve is a unique collection of engravings of the XVII-XIX centuries. Among the rarities - prints the second half of the XVII century painted originals of the great Flemish painters Peter Paul Rubens and Van Dyck Antonius, "architectural fantasies" by Giovanni Battista Piranesi and Francesco, rare sheets of Italian engraver Joseph (Giuseppe) and Wagner Swiss artist Alexandre Calame.

Visitors will see engravings with original paintings by William Hogarth, made by the artist himself and "Hogarth engraver" by Thomas Cook: and genre scenes, illustration of the unfinished poem by Samuel Butler "Gudibras", engraved portrait of David Garik as Richard III, as well as lists published in the middle of the XIX century "Album of His Majesty King Ludwig I of Bavaria".

Arts and Crafts are presented with porcelain rarities, made in the XVIII - the first half of the XIX century at the Sevres, Meissen and Berlin Royal Porcelain Manufactory.
