Monuments of book culture: Presentation of unique restoration project of the Novgorod Kormchi of the XVIII century at the State Historical Museum

The State Historical Museum (Moscow) on March 24, 2015 is held the presentation of the Novgorod Kormcha of the XIII century, of the first in Rus’ set of laws and regulations.

After the completion of the restoration, which lasted almost a year, the Novgorod helmsman of the XIII century is now available to researchers in the reading room of the Department of Manuscripts. Last time a unique folio was restored at the time of Catherine II.

The Novgorod helmsman of the Synod (the former Patriarch) library was established in 1280 and is the oldest list of the canonical rights of the Russian edition.

Kormchaya was the most important legal monument in ancient Russia. The manuscripts present the "Russian Truth", "Law of judgment to people". In the XIV century the collection was supplemented by the Charter of the Church of Prince Vladimir (the oldest list) and the Charter of Prince Svyatoslav II of Kiev.

At the heart of the Novgorod Kormchaya is the Byzantine Nomocanon compiled in the VI century Patriarch of Constantinople by John Scholasticus. In the second half of the XI century set of rules was transferred to the Bulgarian Church, and then became widespread in Russia.

In the Museum of the book came in 1920 as a part of the synodal assembly. Rare monument parchment of writing never exhibited.
