The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The exhibition from German Museum of the Brothers Grimm in Orenburg

March 19, 2015, as part of the Year of the Literature in Russia, in the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts was opened the exhibition of "The Brothers Grimm. Life and Work" from the Museum of the Brothers Grimm (Kassel, Germany).

Famous storytellers brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were born in Hanau, in Hessen-Kassel, where they spent most of his life. At the beginning of the XIX century, they have collected more than 200 oral legends, fairy tales, legends, from which, after the literary treatment amounted first book, "Children's and Household Tales".

The Brothers Grimm fairy tales were studied as philologists and folklorists. They recorded local folklore, documented different variations of the same stories, and published several collections. In addition to the great tales brothers wrote a study on the German lands, made the world's largest dictionary of the German language in 33 volumes, without which today cannot do any one researcher of the German.

The exhibition presents works of the Brothers Grimm editions of different years (from 1812 to 1948), reprints with handwritten notes and additions authors, letters, documents, a series of cards, promotional cards, pictures of books, graphics, and pictures for kids.

The exhibition will run until April 19, 2015.
