World history: The exhibition “Two World Wars…Confrontation” in the Rostov region

In 2014 in Volgograd, as well as across the country, were held events related to the centenary of the First World War. The museum-reserve "Battle of Stalingrad" especially to this date hosts two exhibitions. The exposition of one of them, called "Two World Wars…Confrontation" will be available to people of the city of Starocherkassk of the Rostov region. It opens March 20, 2015.

The exhibition tells about famous Soviet and German military leaders, who began their battle way on the battlefields of the First World War, still unaware that more than twenty years later, fate will bring them again already on the battlefields of the Second World War near Stalingrad. 

The exposition features personal items, awards, documents, photographs of Soviet generals - members of the First World War and the Battle of Stalingrad - the commander of the 2nd Guards Army Malinovsky, who fought in the Great War, as it was then called, in the Russian expeditionary corps in French Foreign Legion, was awarded the crosses of St. George and the Order of the French military, A. M. Vasilevsky - Chief of the General Staff of the Red Army during the First World War - ensign, later captain, a member of the famous Brusilovsky breakthrough and many others.

Visitors can get acquainted with weaponry, equipment, awards enemy, photographs of German generals commanding compounds of Wehrmacht near Stalingrad.

The exhibition features posters, postcards, letters of that time.

The exhibition in Starocherkassk will be completed on May 25, 2015.
