History of Russia: The exhibition “Crimea: history of return” in Moscow

March 17, 2014 in the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Saint-Petersburg) is opened the exhibition “Crimea: history of return”, which will be held until April 12.

The exhibition tells how Crimea lived and was developed in different eras. The exposition was created by the Russian Ethnographic Museum (Saint-Petersburg), the Central Museum of Tauride (Simferopol), and the Museum Historical and Memorial Complex “35th Coast Battery” (Sevastopol).

The first section of the exhibition is devoted to the life of the peninsula in the Russian Empire, the second - in the RSFSR, and the third is about the search for national and political identity, which began in the early 1990s.

The central theme of the exhibition - the event is the recent history of our country - the signing on 18 March 2014 agreement on the adoption by the Russian Federation of the Republic of Crimea.

Director General of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia Irina Velikanova said that one of the exclusive exhibits, which was managed to get - a written instrument (pen and paperweight) - direct “participants” of the signing ceremony in the Kremlin. 

"Only on the table during the signing of the contract there were four of these pens. The exhibition "Crimea: history of return" is the one where Vladimir Putin signed the contract”, - said Irina Velikanova.

Director of the museum said that the exhibit will initiate the beginning of the formation of the constant exposition of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, dedicated to the XXI century.
