World history: The exhibition “Step into the future” 50 years of the first output of a man into space” in Saint-Petersburg

March 16, 2015 in the new building of the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg) is opened the book exhibition "Step into the future: 50 years of the first output of a man into space."

50 years ago, on March 18, 1965 the world heard the report of the commander of the spacecraft "Voskhod-2" Pavel Belyayev "Warning! The man went into space!". The first man in the history of mankind committed spacewalk was a Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.

The exhibition at the National Library of Russia presented publications from the library telling about the most important events in the history of space exploration. Among the exhibits are newspaper and magazine publications, published in March 1965, the publication of the first Soviet cosmonaut, Outer rivalry of the USSR and the USA, about the flight of animals in space.

One of the sections of the exhibition of the NLR is dedicated to books and articles of Alexei Leonov. The section also presents paintings of the astronaut since he was also the first artist who has seen the planet from outer space.  

Among the exhibits there are diaries and memoirs of astronauts and other professionals associated with the cosmos. One part of the exhibition is devoted to publications telling about the current state of development of astronautics.

The materials for the exhibition are provided by the Russian book and journal fund, the Department of stamps, the Group processing foundation, the Central Reference Library. 

The exhibition will run until April 20.
